A heavenly reminder is winging its way around Wales to tell customers about Royal Mail's recommended Last Posting Dates for Christmas. Musing on the Angels theme on this year's festive stamps, Royal Mail posties and Post Office counter clerks are bringing timely messages of peace and goodwill - and the all-important dates for sending festive greetings to friends and loved ones this Christmas. The Christmas Roadshow was at Saundersfoot Post Office, yesterday (Thursday) when staff were be dressed in 'heavenly' costumes to offer festive advice on Christmas mailings. Last posting dates for Christmas cards in the UK are Monday, December 17, for Second Class and Thursday, December 20, for First Class. For guaranteed Special Delivery, post by Friday, December 21. Nationally, a bumper mailbag of more than 2.2 billion cards and letters is expected between now and Christmas. In South Wales, Royal Mail will handle more than 18 million cards a week as Christmas fast approaches, delivering festive greetings to customers living in the SA, NP and CF postcode areas, including Swansea, Haverfordwest, Tenby, Lampeter, Llandeilo and Carmarthen. Royal Mail area general manager for South Wales, Paul Kelly, said the season of goodwill brings the biggest postbag of the year to Swansea and Cardiff Mail Centres, collecting and delivering mail to and from South Wales. "Our postmen and women work round the clock up to and include Christmas Eve and the more people that post First Class and use postcodes, the more confident everyone can be of a good Christmas," he said. There will be no collections or deliveries on Tuesday, December 25, or Wednesday, December 26. The last delivery and collection before Christmas will be on Christmas Eve (Monday, December 24).
