Kilgetty, sponsored by Tenby and Saundersfoot Lions, travelled to Neyland for this game which was played in fine sunshine, but a strong wind.

Kilgetty had to play up the slope in the first half, but with the wind at their backs were hoping to get off to a good start.

They could not have been more wrong, as it was Neyland who took the game to Kilgetty from the whistle and for the first 15 minutes were virtually camped in their opponents half.

Fortunately for Kilgetty, Neyland only converted one of their many chances and the visitors began to edge their way back into the game.

The next 15 minutes saw a fairly even game, with both teams creating and missing chances. It was then that Kilgetty captain James Nicholas stepped in; picking the ball up in his own half, he carried it forward, before unleashing an unstoppable shot from 30 yards.

This inspired Kilgetty, who had the better of the last 15 minutes, but could not force another goal.

Half-time came as a welcome break for Kilgetty who had only 11 fit players so would need to show great determination in the second half.

With the advantage of the slope, Kilgetty started the better, but could not find a way through the Neyland defence, until a quick throw on the right found Nick Cope, whose shot found its way into the net with a hint of a deflection off one of the Neyland defenders.

This stung Neyland into action and they almost equalised within a minute, but were thwarted by a brilliant save by Adam Hughes, who tipped a goal-bound shot onto the bar and the rebound was cleared by the defence.

Kilgetty had to defend now as Neyland came looking for the equaliser, but the back four held firm and eventually the final whistle was blown for a hard fought victory.

Congratulations to both teams for a very entertaining game.
