New for Fish Week 2008 was a beach activity and environmental day at Stackpole, organised by the Darwin Centre, in partnership with the Stackpole Centre (National Trust). The fun day included learning about the environmental past, present and future, hunting for prehistoric fossils, exploring marine life, and more. Pembrokeshire Fish Week served up a treat at Tenby, with a packed schedule of fishy and sporty events on and around the harbour. Visitors enjoyed cookery and filleting demos, beach games, and the chance to buy and tuck into delicious fish and seafood, accompanied by music from Pembrokeshire Schools Junior Jazz Band. Expert fish craftsman Duncan Lucas gave demonstrations on preparing and fillet fish and shellfish, while S4C chef Mel Thomas presented seafood cookery demonstrations. There was also a fresh fish barbecue, with all proceeds going to the Gareth Scotcher Trust Fund. Children and young people played frisbee, tag rugby, and mini sports on the Harbour and North beaches, and took part in an interschool volley ball tournament. Meanwhile, the secrets to successful bass fishing were revealed by experienced bass fisherman John Gaze at the Harbour beach.
