Sue and John Shaw, of Sageston, who organise day trips and holidays mainly for the over 50s age group, recently presented a cheque to Pembrokeshire Cancer Support of Pembroke Dock to the value of £285.

Sue is seen presenting the cheque to Derryn Bevan, a support worker at the centre in Queen Street, Pembroke Dock.

The money raised was from having fun quizzes, games, raffles etc on the various trips and short holidays that they organised during the year.

Sue said: "Everyone enjoys themselves on our trips and is only too happy to help and support whatever charity has been nominated for the year. Each year, we ask our group what charity they would like to nominate and we try to keep it local or Welsh orientated. We would like to thank everyone who travels with us for their continued support over the years which enables us to raise much needed money for worthy causes.

"We are a 'Happy Band of Travellers' and enjoy days out to theatres or weekend trips to London for shows or sight-seeing, holidays in the UK and abroad by coach or air travel. Wherever anyone wants to go, I will look into it and if there are enough who want to do it, we will go.

"We are going to Warner's Holme Lacy Hotel in Herefordshire, Monday, January 28 - Friday, February 1 (all inclusive drinks) five days/four nights. If anyone is interested in joining us on the trip or wants details of forthcoming holidays, then contact us asap on 01646 651989. Everyone will be made very welcome, singles as well as doubles and twins for couples are catered for, usually at no extra supplement."
