It's St. David's Day on Sunday and like the rest of Wales, the people of Pembrokeshire will be celebrating the day of our patron saint in traditional style.
Locally, celebrations kicked-off yesterday (Thursday) with the opening of the annual Daffodil Festival at St. Johns Church, Tenby. Over 7,500 golden blooms have been used to create spectacular floral displays on the theme of 'Think of a World'.
Various Welsh-themed events are being staged at the church as part of the festival which is open until Sunday. School children of course will be donning colourful Welsh costumes today (Friday) and Monday as they hold special concerts and eisteddfodau.
Rugby fans, meanwhile, will be sporting their red jerseys tonight (Friday) as Warren Gatland's boys aim to get in their third win a row when they travel across The Channel to play France in the Six Nations Championship. And, of course, tomorrow (Saturday) sees the opening of Saundersfoot's St. David's Day Food and Craft Festival at the harbour (see inside for more details).
There will be Welsh food and craft stalls and displays, Welsh music performed and cookery demonstrations, plus the ever-popular Cawl Cooking Championship of the World...and Elsewhere. See next week's Observer for a full round-up of all the festivities, including a St. David's Day picture parade featuring our local schools.
