This year's Pembrokeshire Half-Marathon and 10K road races, held in Dale on Sunday, September 24, beat all previous records, with 181 competitors completing one or other of the courses.
Held on a beautiful sunny morning, the races were organised by Pembrokeshire Triathlon Club, with all the proceeds raised being donated to the Bucketful of Hope Appeal in memory of one of their members, Adam Evans-Thomas.
Andrew Abbott (Sarn Helen) successfully retained his half marathon title in a good time of 1.20.12, with the ladies' trophy in the half marathon going to Shan Roberts, of Ingli Runners, who finished in a superb time of 1.32.27 and an excellent 13th position overall.
In the 10K race, there were clear winners in both the men's and women's categories, with Robert Dyde (Pembrokeshire Harriers) finishing in 38.27, and Susannah Bulpin, of San Dominico, coming fourth overall in 42.36.
Following the races, the organisers expressed thanks to everyone who came and supported them by either running one of the races or by giving up their time to marshal, timekeep or just generally help out.
The Boathouse Café helped out by providing space for the registration and the presentation. The following organisations and business supported the races and thanks are expressed to them all for their support: Pembrokeshire Leisure (sponsorship of the race t-shirts and seven day leisure passes), Lidl (goodie bags), Enterprise Cycles of Neyland (spot prizes), and Higgons Well (water).
The date for the races next year has already been set for Sunday, September 30, giving every budding runner plenty of time to train, so no excuses! More details will appear on the triathlon club's website http://www.pembrokeshire-tri.org.uk">www.pembrokeshire-tri.org.uk in due course.
