There will be a chance to see nationally scarce plants such as sea lavender next month during a guided walk across the Manorbier military range. Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority ranger Lynne Ferrand will lead the walk, only the second ever held on the range. The authority's archaeologist, Polly Groom, and Countryside Council for Wales geologist, Sid Howells, will be on hand to point out the most interesting features of the landscape. Manorbier range has been an army training area since 1939. It now covers more than 80 acres, and is used for air defence practice. Restricted public access has benefited the wildlife living on the range, including skylarks. The walk will take place at 1 pm on August 8, and will last up to three hours. To book a place, ring Lynne Ferrand on 07866 771188 or 01646 662213.
