The Tenby and Pembrokeshire branch of the Guide Dogs for the Blind Association is coming to the end of the usual busy summer season. Flag days have been held in Haverfordwest and Milford Haven in June, Tenby, Saundersfoot and Narberth in July, and Pembroke and Pembroke Dock in August.
There have also been collections at the Co- operative Store in Kilgetty, ASDA, Pembroke Dock and Morrisons in Haverfordwest. Chair person, Anne Lillycrop and her hard working branch members wish to thank everyone who so kindly supported these collections, with special thanks to the friends who provided such valuable help.
Stalls have been held on Saundersfoot harbour on Wednesdays when the weather permitted, and through the summer there has been a competition to guess the birthday of the cuddly dog and puppy. At the branch meeting on September 2, the sealed envelope containing the winning date, kindly chosen by Saundersfoot Community Council chairman, Mr. Don Poole, was opened, revealing the date to be October 24, and the winner Morgan Jones, of Johnston.
Regrettably, usual participants are asked to note that there will not be a sponsored cycle ride at Pendine this year, but it is hoped to find another suitable venue or similar event for 2006 which is the 75th anniversary of the Guide Dogs for the Blind Association.
The next event will be the annual coffee morning in Saundersfoot, this year to be held at the Sports Club on Thursday, November 3, when the branch hopes to meet friends old and new.
As mentioned in previous reports, the branch is desperate for extra helpers, and if anyone would like further information, please contact secretary, Eva Rich, on 01834 812868.
