ON Saturday, May 19, the Tenby and District Branch of the Labour Party resume their programme of monthly meetings at St. Teilo's Church Hall, Tenby, at 11.30 am. The guest speaker will be Huw Irranca Davies, MP for the Ogmore constituency in Mid Glamorgan. A Welsh politician who after only five years as a Member of Parliament, has made a mark on Westminister life, his constituency of Ogmore in the South Wales Valleys has been a Labour seat since 1918. The present MP was elected following the death of Sir Ray Powell, a veteran political power-broker, in their February 2002 by-election. He was born and educated in Swansea where he attained an MSc at Swansea University. His speech in Tenby promises to be a lively, interesting event with questions from the public.
