Despite the disappointing form shown in recent reasons, there is certainly a growing optimism in the club itself. A positive move is the appointment of two coaches who are eagerly looking forward to the challenges of Division Four rugby. Their record shows the commitment required as well as a very professional attitude.
Games teacher and head of PE Gareth Thomas has been a player/coach with Tenby for 15 years, having played for the 1st XV and 2nd XV and coached the 2nd XV and Youth. He has also coached the County under 15s, 18 and 21s - national champions - as well as the Welsh Schools U16s and Pembs. Junior Union
Kenny Davies coached Narberth 1st XV for five years up until 2001. He has also coached Pembs. Youth and has been involved with Welsh Women's squad. He has a reputation for giving young local players a chance and is looking forward to working for a big club with a great history. He is also a WRU development officer.
Team manager for the forthcoming season will be Chris Williams, who has already demonstrated in various fields his commitment to the club, both playing and coaching.
Coaches and team manager are remaining tight-lipped regarding the playing strength for next season, but did reveal that there have been five local new signings to date and are in talks with another five players.
If anyone is interested in joining Tenby, training will be at Heywood Lane Tuesday/Thursday, or for more information contact team manager Chris William on (01834) 812107.
Once the squad has been finalised the Observer will be notified.
