A LOCAL man who is growing his hair and a beard in aid of charity has already raised £250 to help challenge childhood cancer and leukaemia.
Sixty-year-old Frank Barnes is raising funds for CLIC and is already eight weeks into his sponsored challenge which runs until December.
Formerly of Tenby, but now residing in Llanboidy, Frank is organising two musical events to swell the funds.
The first is taking place on August 17 when singer Dave Owen will be performing at Llanboidy Sports and Social Club, while on September 14, Neyland Ladies Choir will be giving a concert at the Market Hall, Llanboidy.
Frank is delighted with the sum of money that has been collected so far for the worthwhile cause.
The money raised will go towards funding a specialist neuro-oncology nurse who looks after children throughout South Wales who have brain or spinal tumours. She also provides homecare support and links them in with all the relevant services, as well as caring for children with other forms of cancer or leukaemia.
Anyone who would like to sponsor Frank is asked to pay their donation into a special sponsorship account which has been opened with Barclays Bank and can be paid into any of the bank's branches.
For further information regarding making a donation or organising an event for CLIC, contact the charity's fund-raising manager, Gill Edwards, on 02920862142.
