The Rotary Club of Narberth and Whitland received a visit recently from the District 1150 Group Study Exchange Team. They were accompanied by team leader, Rotarian Stephen Best, of Cardiff.

The Rotary Foundation's Group Study Exchange (GSE) programme is a unique cultural and vocational exchange opportunity for businesspeople and professionals between the ages of 25 and 40 who are in the early stages of their careers.

The programme provides travel grants for teams to exchange visits in paired areas of different countries. For four to six weeks, team members experience the host country's culture and institutions, observe how their vocations are practised abroad, develop personal and professional relationships, and exchange ideas.

The team were Kathryn Markey (Welsh Assembly Government officer), Carly Bowd (dental hygienist), and teacher Claire Hollings. Unfortunately, the fourth member, Jacqui Llewellyn, was absent through sickness.

The team visited South Australia late last year and gave a fascinating presentation of their experiences in sharing knowledge in their various vocations when they visited their counterparts at work.

The vote of thanks was given by Rotarian Rob Elward, of the Rotary Club of Narberth and Whitland, who is also the District co-ordinator for Group Study projects in District 1150 - an area covering the whole of South, West and Mid Wales with over 70 Rotary Clubs.

President Ted Davies welcomed Assistant District Governor David Williams and his wife from Cefn Sidan, together with members from Inner Wheel and other friends, who combined to make it another very enjoyable evening.
