Dreadful weather did not stop a warm-hearted audience gathering in St. Martin's, Haverfordwest, last Thursday, for a concert by the Griffon Choir.
Under the direction of Richard Stephens and with Jasmine Thomas as accompanist, Welsh, English, Latin and Swahili echoed around the soaring church in music by Mozart, Quilter, Handel and modern composers such as John Rutter.
Tenby soprano Kelly John chose her solos well for St. Martin's. Accompanied by Richard she first sang 'Hymn to the Virgin' by Rubra, and Handel's 'Art thou troubled' following these later with Handel's 'Where're you walk' and his exhilarating 'Let the bright Seraphim' before choristers ended the evening with Mozart's 'Glorious is Thy Name' and the Russian, 'How Great Thou Art.'
Afterwards, St. Martin's members provided a delightful spread which helped Griffons brave gales and rain on the way home.
