Under the direction of Dr. John Harrison and with Andrew Cusworth as accompanist, The Griffon Choir gave a performance of Gloria by Vivaldi to an audience of locals and visitors in the beautiful setting of St. Mary's Church in Tenby on Monday, July 14. The soloists were Fiona Care, soprano, and Marilyn Allen, contralto, who both contributed so much musically and emotionally to this very popular work. The choristers rose to the occasion and the result was a very exciting and moving performance. The choir has been busy learning new items to add to its huge repertoire. They sang Mozart's Laudate Dominum, Brahms' How lovely are Thy Dwellings, This is the record of John by Orlando Gibbons and Adiemus by Karl Jenkins. A stirring Welsh hymn, Tydi a roddaist and the ever-popular Ar hyd y nos completed the programme. The choir breaks now for the summer and will start rehearsals again in September. New members are welcomed. If you are interested in joining the choir, or would like to book the choir to sing, please telephone Judy McGilloway on 01646 672144.
