The St. David's Day 2014 message to the Senedd in Cardiff began with a blessing from Right Rev. Wyn Evans, Bishop of St. David's Cathedral, and from the City of St. Davids. Then, on to the Hywel Dda Centre at Whitland, traditionally the meeting place of the first Assembly called by King Hywel Dda in the 10th century.
The president of Cymdeithas Genedlaethol Hywel Dda, Mr. Haydn Lewis, welcomed the Mayor of Whitland, Clr. Bentley Evans, Dr. John Davies, organiser of the annual St. David's Day 'Journey of messages' to the Senedd, and all guests from St. Davids and Whitland.
Heledd Morgan and Sam Walsh from Ysgol Dewi Sant St. Davids read the message from the Bishop of St. Davids, and Amy Thomas and Nia Griffiths from Ysgol Bro Dewi read a message from the City of St. Davids.
County Clr. Sue Allen and Mrs. Valerie Davies read the message of goodwill from the Hywel Dda Centre and the Mayor and Town Council of Whitland to the Assembly in Cardiff.
Ceulyn Davies, Ysgubor Fawr Whitland, entertained the audience with two songs. Then the messengers continued on their way to Carmarthen, Swansea, the Civic Centre in Cardiff and finally to the Senedd, where all presented their respective messages.
