Congratulations to the girls seven-a-side football team for winning the Pembrokeshire Development Cup on Sunday.
The knockout games began with a tough clash against Tanyard Tigers. The game was very close, the winner coming late on from Lucy Medwell.
She said: "I did not mean to give the other players a heart attack by having two stabs at the goal, but on the second chance I knew I had clinched the game."
In the second game, both sides could not be separated. Letterston were pinned back to their own half, but they defended stoutly and it went to penalties. Greenhill won 4-3, with two excellent saves coming from Laura Crockford.
The cool keeper's tactics were to give the psychological edge: "I gave them the eyes," she said.
The final match was played against Clarbeston Road, the tipped favourites. Greenhill battled well, although Clarbeston Road had all the chances, and went ahead with a long range 30-yard drive that just went under the keeper. Greenhill kept battling, and equalised at an important moment just before half-time. The scorer, Hilly, was surprised to score as she was playing for only the second time this season.
"I saw a gap in the corner and after shrugging off challenges from the opposition and my own team, I drilled the ball low and hard into the net. I really rate their 'keeper, but she had no chance reaching my super shot."
Penalties then followed, with Greenhill scoring five out of five and another great save to limit Clarbeston Road to four.
Thanks and well done to everyone who has contributed this season. Next year we will have to win the league.
