Greenhill School recently took part in the Welsh Basketball Schools Under 12s finals.

The team met Ysgol y Berwyn Bala in the semi-final and quickly took the lead. They stretched their lead to eight points by half-time. In the second half, Norton Williams for Ysgol y Berwyn Bala, started to pull back the points, and with two minutes to go, they took the lead by 18 points to 17.

Greenhill fought back well, though, and with 30 seconds to go, Owen Coombes scored to take the score to 19 points to 18 and the win qualified them for the final.

In the final, Greenhill met Cwm Rhymine, who were the favourites for the title. Greenhill scored first through Ben Roberts, but the Cwm Rhymine team were much bigger than the Greenhill boys and started to dominate the rebounds.

The Greenhill team had given their all in the semi-final and found it difficult to hold their opponents. The Cwm Rhymine team eventually forged ahead and kept their lead, winning by 32 points to eight.

The Year 7 squad from Greenhill, Ben Roberts, Owen Coombes, Will Davies, Harry Ryan, Leon Phillips, Lee Newman, Shaun Conbeer, Jake Davies, did very well and gave 100 per cent through what was a very long day.
