Staff and pupils at Tenby's Greenhill School were celebrating at the end of term as the young cricketers at the school won both the Pembrokeshire under 13 and under 15 schools cricket finals. In the under 13 final, Greenhill school won by nine wickets against Milford Haven Comprehensive School at Haverfordwest Cricket Club after the Milford team had been bowled out for just 28. All of the Greenhill bowlers bowled particularly well, with James Hinchliffe the pick of the bunch with his spell of 4 for 2 in four decisive overs! In reply, Greenhill raced past Milford's total to win by nine wickets. Hinchliffe led the way again by top scoring with 12 not out. Scott Griffiths picked up the only wicket to fall for Milford Haven. In the under 15 final, the Tenby team won by 34 runs against Ysgol Bro Gwaun (Fishguard), who were bowled out for 60 chasing Tenby's total of 94. Sam Harts, who plays club cricket for Cresselly, was undefeated with a hard hitting 37. He received excellent support from Carew's Tom Davies, who scored 26. The pick of Ysgol Bro Gwaun's bowlers was G. Delaney, who returned figures of five overs for just 15 runs. He was well supported by R. Williams, M. Driver and Rhys Dalling, who all took a wicket apiece in their spells. In reply, Ysgol Bro Gwaun started well, but a late order collapse, mainly due to a hat-trick from Greenhill's youngster Jack Murphy (a year seven pupil) meant that the Fishguard team were bowled out for 60. Vaughan Davies was the major contributor for Ysgol Bro Gwaun with a well made 20. The wickets were shared out amongst Greenhill's bowlers, with Murphy, who plays senior cricket for Cresselly Seconds, returning figures of 4 for 12 in his five overs. He was well supported by all-rounders Tom Davies and Sam Harts, who took two wickets apiece, and there was also a wicket apiece for W. Thomas and Dan Edwards. Sport Pembrokeshire's cricket development officer Ben Field said: "Fortunately the weather held and both matches were played in a great spirit with sportsmanship demonstrated throughout."
