Members of the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park's development control committee approved plans this week for a new coastguard auxiliary station at the Salterns Industrial Estate, Tenby.
At present, the station is situated in Broadwell Hayes, but relocation is considered to be necessary, as the new site will be more operationally suitable and modern, and will be crucial in helping deal with marine incidents.
The proposal also includes the erection of a VHF aerial measuring 1.25m from the top of the building on the rear seaward elevation.
The coastguard auxiliary station will provide an office, toilet and kitchen facilities, training room and a garage, and space for an emergency vehicle and emergency rescue equipment.
