Three Carmarthenshire County Council-run parks have been officially recognised as some of the best green spaces in Wales.

Llyn Llech Owain Country Park, Mynydd Mawr Woodland Park, and Pembrey Country Park have all retained their prestigious Green Flag Award, a mark of quality awarded by environmental charity Keep Wales Tidy.

They are among 315 parks and green spaces across Wales to meet the high standards required for this international benchmark of excellence.

In addition to the Council-run sites, seven community-led spaces in Carmarthenshire have also been recognised with a Green Flag Community Award, including two newly awarded sites: Burry Port Community Garden and Friends of Betws Park.

  • Danyrhelyg Community Garden
  • Footholdcymru Community Garden
  • Friends of Betws
  • Llanfallteg Memorial Playing Field
  • Pontyberem Park

These awards reflect the hard work and dedication of volunteers and local groups who care passionately about their community green spaces.

These awards place Carmarthenshire’s green spaces among the best in the world, with parks assessed on criteria including environmental management, biodiversity, cleanliness, safety and community involvement.
