Extreme sportsman Tim Emmett has joined forces with the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority to help promote the UK's only truly coastal National Park as one of nature's most awesome playgrounds.

Tim, a world-renowned climber, is also a base jumper and three-time podium holder in the Ice Climbing World Cup.

The Park Authority challenged him to complete a gruelling solo climb at Stennis Head on the Castlemartin MOD Range in the Park. He also tried the silent, low impact sport of kayaking - a new sport for him - which brought him into close contact with the Park's seals and many seabirds.

The challenge was set to mark the launch of five online DVDs produced by the authority aimed at encouraging younger people to make the most of the incredible natural playground offered by the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. The DVDs feature kayaking, climbing, surfing, windsurfing and cycling - just a few of the activities on offer in the Park.

You can view the activity DVDs on YouTube and they will be soon be uploaded onto the Park Authority's website http://www.pcnpa.org.uk">www.pcnpa.org.uk.

Marie Edwards, the authority's PR and communications manager, said: "It's the amazing coast here in the National Park that has lured a climber of Tim's calibre. But it's not just an ideal setting for expert sportsmen and women, it's a really beautiful playground for anyone of any age or ability.

"We're saying 'it's great to look at, but even better to play in' and we hope Tim's visit and our new DVDs, will help inspire young people to get out into the fresh air in their National Park and challenge themselves by learning exhilarating new sports."

Summing up his action-packed day, Tim Emmett said: "I woke up and went for a surf which was brilliant, then went kayaking and saw some seals at lunchtime and finished off with this amazing climb - one of the best routes ever - so the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park is awesome, it has it all and I love it to bits."
