A steady stream of residents visited Kilgetty Community Centre last weekend to view the exciting plans for the proposed new eco leisure facility. "We were delighted with the positive response from nearly 200 people of all ages who came to study the layout, with members of the association and the architects, Acanthus Holden, on hand to explain the details," said a spokesperson for the Environmental Group. During Saturday morning, meanwhile, they were most grateful to receive a cheque for £5,000 from Awards for All Wales, this being a grant towards the development of the Community Garden. The cheque was presented to Janet Ward, clerk to Kilgetty Begelly Community Council, and Judith Ball, representing the Environmental Group of Begelly Kilgetty Community Association. Work on the garden is due to commence shortly, with the paths and beds being dug out and laid by contractors G. D. Harries. A plea for more volunteers for the planting scheme produced eight offers of help, but there is always room for more! The next step forward for the building project, once the costings are finalised, is to apply for planning permission to Pembrokeshire County Council and then to begin making approaches for funding. Residents will be kept informed of progress via the Community Newsletter and press releases - so watch this space!
