The entrance gates of the Narberth graveyard have been sadly neglected in the past dozen years, leaving them plastered in green mould almost completely covering the original black paint.

The gates were erected to commemorate the sad death of a former doctor of Narberth town. Doctor Glyn Rees was lost at sea in a sailing accident and a plaque was erected on the gates acknowledging his contribution to the community.

Rotarian Ken Morgan suggested to the club of Narberth and Whitland that the members could refurbish the extremely grubby gates with some extreme measures of community action.

Rotarian Ian Gravell asked local businessman, Mr. Steve Evans, who runs a valeting service called Extreme Valeting, to help out and he has offered his services free of charge.

He has power-washed the gates to remove the green overgrowth so they are now ready for painting and D. P. Building supplies have donated black Hammerite paint, so Rotarians will now set to and finish the job.

President Mary Adams will be asking some of her Rotarians to brush-up on their painting skills in the next couple of weeks to finish the job.
