Improvement of the disabled access at the Bloomfield Centre, Narberth, is one of 20 projects which have been successful in obtaining grants processed by Pembrokeshire County Council's Community Regeneration Unit.

Projects totalling £659,548 in value will receive £269,346 in grants in the first round of applications handled by the unit.

Cost of the Bloomfield scheme is £40,807, with a £20,807 grant being awarded.

Among other successful grant applications are:

St. John's Community Hall, Pembroke Dock: conversion of upper floor open space into private meeting/counselling room and additional furniture for main hall, total project value of £4,106 ((£3,080 grant).

Pembroke Town Council: enhancement scheme - £910 (£455).

East Williamston Community Council: groundworks at Broadmoor play area - £6,400 (£5,122).

SUSTRANS: upgrading of coast path for shared/disabled use - £173,000 (£40,000).

East Williamston Community Association: enhancement of common land - £19,850 (£15,880).

Princes' Trust: purchase of IT to be used in Priority 3 area of Pembrokeshire - £25,938 (£3,938).

South Pembrokeshire Arts Network: youth arts project - £24,388 (£14,632).

• The 2001 Rural Development Scheme (RDS) grant is available for community groups, associations and organisations within Pembrokeshire.
