The third meeting of the newly-formed Pembrokeshire Affiliation of Local History Societies is to be held at the Reference and Local Studies Library at Haverfordwest on Wednesday, October 22, at 6.30 pm.
Following a survey of the societies held this summer, the theme of the evening is 'Grant funding for projects'.
The speaker will be Lorna Unwin, the Funding Development Officer for PAVS (the Pembrokeshire Association of Voluntary Services). All aspects of the grant funding process will be outlined, including the latest news about the sources of funding available and the practical side of submitting applications. There will also be the opportunity to hear about the Societies that have been successful in their applications and the type of work currently being undertaken.
The meeting will also provide an opportunity for feedback on the successful Local Studies Fair held recently at Haverfordwest Library and for members to plan events and activities for 2009.
All local history societies are encouraged to send representatives to what promises to be a worthwhile evening.
