In the all Division One clash at Carew, the visitors Whitland reached 134-6, thanks mainly to the efforts of middle order batsman Steve Fraser with a fine innings of 54no, which included three 6s and three 4s.
Whitland skipper Mark Lee was the ideal foil in an unbroken seventh wicket partnership which produced 51 runs and the only batsmen in double figures apart form Fraser were opener David Lee with 12, all-rounder Matthew Davies with 13 and Iestyn Scourfield with 10.
Although Carew left it late before winning with only four balls to spare, there was a sense that they were in control. The decision to hold back opener Nick Scourfield to number five paid dividends as he paced the Carew victory bid to perfection in his undefeated 36 to capitalise on a good start by Ian Sefton and Brian Hall with an opening stand of 47.
Sefton scored 24 and Hall 23 and there were other more than useful contributions from Simon Wood with 21 and Phil Jones with 15.
Mathew Davies was the most penetrating Whitland bowler with 2-38.
Saundersfoot were bowled out for 102 in their away fixture at Haverfordwest as Adam James showed his all-round qualities by taking 4-14.
The stylish Paul Mansbridge scored 30 and Yannick Parker 25.
Haverfordwest cruised through to the next round with a 10-wicket win upon reaching 103 for no wicket.
Two batsmen in form, Danny Potter with 60no, including eight 4s, and Karl Rhead with 35no, including four 4s, made batting look a whole lot easier than when the visitors were at the crease.
Stackpole had a nine wickets win away to Camrose and Spittal, with Andrew Hay 42no and Huw Cox 33no in a Stackpole total of 96-1.
Earlier, Camrose and Spittal had scored 95-9. Jason Phillips top scored with 25 as Gareth Brown took 4-32 and Chris Gibbs 2-10.
First Division Neyland had a big win at home to Third Division Llanrhian, who were bowled out for 56 in reply to a Neyland total of 140-7. Although Ben Jones scored 22, spinner Phil Davies with 4-15 and Patrick Hannon with 2-14 took wickets at regular intervals as the visitors were bowled out.
Earlier, Neyland skipper Andrew Miller scored 46 and Scott John 42 as Ben Jones took 3-40 and Tony Kitchell 2-35.
