Popular local artist and teacher, Graham Hadlow, returns to Colby Gallery for another solo exhibition starting on Monday, April 7. April 7 also sees Graham delivering the first of his three Monday Watercolour Workshops in the 'Small Gallery'. Sorry, this Monday's session is already fully booked, but a few places are still available for April 14 and 21, so don't delay if you want to be sure of a place. For the remaining two courses, Graham will be focusing on 'Boats and Harbours', and 'Cottages', subjects never far from his own heart, as will be obvious to anyone familiar with his work. Using a subdued palette, Graham combines architectural detail with superbly executed skies, trees and seas, and those famously (how does he do it?) wet-wet beaches. Whilst the majority of Graham's work reflects his love of Pembrokeshire, his sketch book accompanies him on all his holidays in the UK, and his latest work on view at Colby features Ireland, the Cotswolds and North Wales, as well as his native Yorkshire. The photograph shown here is back on home soil (sand), which 'Observer' readers will recognise as Solva harbour. A stroll round the gardens at their springtime best, followed by a feast for the eyes in the gallery (not to mention a feast in the Bothy Tearoom) makes for a superb day out. Which ever way you look, you will find something inspirational on your visit to Colby Woodland Gardens. The gardens, gallery, National Trust shop and tea room are all open daily, 10-5. For more information on workshops and future exhibitions, please ring the gallery on 814200.
