Sir, Thank you very much for publishing my letter a few months ago re. the School Reunion - Narberth Old Pupils of the former County, later Grammar, later Secondary School. There was a very good response from all over the UK and abroad and, of course, from much nearer home in Pembrokeshire, Carmarthenshire and Cardigan. It's surprising where the Observer reaches exiles. Everything is now in place for the reunion to take place on the afternoon of July 5 at the Nantyffin Motel, Llandissilio. Many invitations have been sent out, but there could be many of your readers who would like to attend and receive the necessary invitation. Partners are allowed. All that has to be done is to contact myself on 01559 362625 or at 'Ty-Hapus', 67 The Beeches, Llandysul, SA44 4HT, or Jimmy Morgan at Crinow Glebe, Clunderwen. To date, former pupils representing the class years 1931 to 1956 have accepted. The oldest is Alban Prickett, Brynhoffnant, formerly of Llawhaden, a 'young' 90-year-old (March 14), who started in the old school in 1931. Alban served in the RAF during the war and is now a budding author. Another 'youngster' attending is Eric Day, Penally, formerly of Princes Gate, of the class of 33. Class of 35 is represented by Gwen Duckfield (now Northcott), relative of the great Glamorgan cricketer. Other years already represented are former pupils of the classes of 43, 44, 46, 49 and 56. Retired Dr. Philip Jones - Phillipe when in school, after being evacuated from Madagasgar - from Burry Port, is hoping to have a reunion with someone who recognised him whilst serving in the army in Hong Kong in 1952. Philip is sure he was in the class of 44 and could, possibly, have come from Efailwen, but doesn't have any clue to his name. Could one of your readers be that former pupil and could he be attending the reunion? Ruth Francis - now retired Dr. Chilcott - is a cert to attend, having already booked her accommodation for that weekend. Ruth is the daughter of the second headmaster, Tom Francis, 1924-42. It is hoped that Beryl Evans - now Dr. Banner - daughter of the third head will attend. Also the son of the fourth head, plus the sons and daughters and niece of other various teachers. Former teachers have also been invited - one or two are also former pupils. One former pupil is also a former teacher and governer of the old school. Regular attender at the reunions, Edwin Rogers, is at present somewhere in the Falklands, Patagonia, Chile, Peru areas, but hopes to be back in Florida in time to fly to the UK for the reunion. As mentioned earlier, many years are represented, but it would be good to meet up with former pupils from the mid 50s up to the time the school closed in the 60s attending. People attending are encouraged to bring along old photographs, etc. It's a good day out, kicking off at 1 pm for 2 pm.

Terry Griffiths, Organiser of the reunion, Llandysul.
