The Leader of Pembrokeshire County Council, Clr. Maurice Hughes, has welcomed a Best Value report on the authority's waste service.
The independent report, published by the Audit Commission, says the service is 'good with promising prospects for improvement'.
The inspection team awarded the waste service two out of a possible three stars.
It is the 18th Good or Excellent rating the council has received out of 23 reviews undertaken to date.
"It is gratifying that the report states that both the public and business customers are very happy with the service provided, particularly as it is one of our front-line services," said Clr. Hughes. "The staff involved are to be congratulated on their hard work."
He said the council would also be tackling the issues which the report said the authority needed to address.
"In common with other local authorities which have popular tourist destinations in their area, the amount of waste collected in the county is high. This is because of the large amount of visitors during the summer.
"We are also actively engaged with the Environment Agency in addressing the fly-tipping problem and prosecutions relating to fly-tipping activities are being considered."
