Readers may be aware of the events and activities that have recently occurred at Tenby Museum and Art Gallery.

In October, they had a major problem with the reference library floor which is built over a cellar.

Due to the age of the building, some wet rot and the weight of 1,500 books, the floor in the library began to collapse.

With the swift action of the PCC, acro props were inserted in the cellar to support the floor.

The library was immediately emptied by a band of volunteers and staff, which was a mammoth task as can be appreciated.

No research could be carried out during this time of total disruption as we struggled to find space to put everything.

However, due to the brilliant contractors who were employed by PCC, for which the museum is extremely grateful, the floor was completely replaced with strong beams and joists and thick flooring, in record time. You could now stand an elephant on it with complete confidence!

All the books have been re-shelved by the wonderful volunteers and the research facility is now up and running again.

So if you need to access the library or archives we shall be happy to accommodate you.

Please ring 842809 for an appointment. The museum is open from 10 am - 5 pm (last admission 4.30 pm) Monday-Friday.
