The best 56 junior boy golfers in Dyfed recently competed in a 36-hole tournament at Glyn Abbey Golf Club to find the Dyfed Boys Champion. The course was in excellent condition and the volunteer members of the golf club ensured a very successful tournament. After the morning round, played in windy conditions, Sam Morgan from Tenby led the gross competition with a 75, while Liam Shiggins from Glyn Abbey led the nett with a 67. In the afternoon the wind died down and the scoring improved. First Gareth Rees from Carmarthen came in with a level par 70, only to be beaten with the only sub- par round of 69 by Ben Price, of Trefloyne. Ben also won the nett in the afternoon with a 63. Overall, the 36 hole results were: First and Dyfed Junior Champion Gareth Rees 146, second Ben Price 147, followed by Liam Shiggins, Sam Morgan and Elliot Harding, of Milford, all with 150. In the nett competition, Liam Shiggins was the overall winner on 132, second was Ben Price on 135, followed by Geraint Hughes from Milford and Jac Davies from Cardigan on 137. Overall, a very high standard of golf was played on the day. Jeff Rees, captain of Glyn Abbey Golf Club, and Barry Onions, chairman of the Dyfed Golfing Union, presented the prizes.
