Celebrating their Golden Wedding anniversary tomorrow (Saturday) are well-known Tenby couple, Billy and Fay Boyatt, of 17 Newell Hill. A former rugby player for Tenby United, Billy, who for worked for SWEB for 22 years, first met Fay (nee Lewis), 59 years ago, when they both joined a cycling club with some friends. "About eight of us met up one Saturday to go for a ride," explained Billy. "Fay ran into the wall at Gumfreston, I looked after her, and things just went from there." Billy, who was born in Pembroke Dock, but evacuated to Tenby during the war, was also the first Tenby United player to be awarded a schoolboy cap. After getting engaged in May 1995, they were married on September 24, of that year at St. Mary's Church, Tenby. The ceremony was conducted by the Rector, Canon H. J. B. Hallam, and was followed by a reception for 50 guests at the Salad Bowl. They spent their honeymoon in Bridgend. The couple, who have lived at Newell Hill for 45 years, have two daughters, Christine Page and Lesley Cale, and five grandchildren. When asked for their recipe for a long and happy marriage, both agreed it was a little bit of 'give and take' and 'having a loving family' that had contributed to their happiness. The couple are looking forward to celebrating their special anniversary 'quietly' with their family this weekend.
