A weekend of celebrations marked the 50th anniversary of Soroptimist International of Tenby and District.

The club, which is one of five in Pembrokeshire, has raised over £95,000 for charities and good causes, and is proud to have two founder members, Dr. Olga Ryland and Margaret Hughes, still in its ranks. Margaret had the pleasure of cutting the anniversary cake accompanied by the president, Rosemary Hayes, at a birthday banquet at the St. Bride's Hotel, Saundersfoot, on Friday evening, when among guests were the national president, Janet Garnons-Williams and South Wales president, Helen Nicholls.

Also over the weekend, Saundersfoot Community Council chairman, Clr. Don Poole, hosted a reception for club members and guests at the Cambrian Hotel, Saundersfoot, on Saturday morning, while in the evening there was a Welsh and Irish dancing night in the Regency Hall, with proceeds going to the Noah's Ark Appeal.

A service was held at St. Issell's Church, Saundersfoot, on Sunday, which rounded off the successful celebrations.
