Being keen gardeners for a number of years, Chris and Maureen Cavill thought that they had pretty much seen everything growing from their back garden. However, recently, something a little more tropical has blossomed at their Broadmoor home.

A banana tree in their back garden has started to bear fruit for the first time, leaving the couple wondering if this could be another sign of climate change.

"We've had the plant for about six years and were very surprised to see it bear the fruit towards the end of the summer," explained Chris. "I'm not sure whether you can put it down to global warming, but it certainly is an unusual sight in this area."

It is not the only unexpected sight you can find in the green-fingered couple's garden, which they transformed when they moved there from Tenby nine years ago.

As well as plenty of exotic plants, flowers and trees, the their garden of delights can boast other fruits such as apples, grapes and kiwis.

The couple have also been recognised for their gardening feats in the past, having previously picked up awards at the Wales in Bloom contest when they live at Southlands in Tenby.
