On Saturday, April 4, in glorious spring weather, Pembroke Dock Bowling Club opened its bowling green for the new season.
Simon Hart, Conservative candidate for Carmarthen West and South Pembrokeshire, who was MP before Parliament dissolved for the election, rolled the silver jack to celebrate the club's 90th anniversary. The silver jack is the original jack that was first rolled on the green in 1925 by Mayor, W. G. Lloyd, when the Memorial Park was opened.
Pembroke Dock Bowling Club chairman, Mr Alan Yea, handed the silver jack to Mr. Hart for rolling on the green. As a memento of the occasion, club president Mrs. Diana Davies presented him with a club tie, a club badge and a framed photograph of the first official handover of the silver jack in 1925.
The club chairman thanked members for their hard work in preparing the clubhouse and surroundings for the opening celebrations. A special thank you went to the greenkeepers, for their dedication in getting the green ready for open day. The green looked in superb condition.
There was an excellent turn out by Pembroke Dock Bowling Club members to watch the proceedings.
