All-American menswear favourite Timberland has teamed up with Specsavers in Pembroke Dock to bring a new collection of designer specs to the UK high street.

Specsavers is adding the Timberland range to its already extensive designer specs portfolio, which also includes Missoni, Karen Millen, Jasper Conran and Red or Dead.

Gary Owen, store director of Specsavers in Pembroke Dock, said: "We're very pleased to be launching our Timberland collection, which is a new designer range especially for men. It's an internationally renowned brand with a strong family heritage, which makes it a perfect fit for Specsavers.

"The glasses are a fusion of function and fashion, which is a hallmark of Timberland, while the branding is subtle but strong, which is the essence of the brand itself."

Specsavers' Timberland range consists of 28 styles and colours, which share the rugged yet stylish spirit of the US brand's apparel and footwear collections. Masculine colours such as gun metal, moss green and dark tortoiseshell lend a strong, dynamic feel to the range, which features plastic frames as well as stainless steel, which is more resistant to corrosion than the more usual metal alloy.

Timberland was created in 1973 but can trace its roots back to 1952, when Nathan Swartz bought a half interest in the Abington Shoe Company, in Massachusetts. Since then the brand has gone from strength to strength, and from men's footwear in one US state to all kinds of apparel and accessories for both men and women worldwide.

Timberland glasses are now available in Specsavers stores.
