Pembrokeshire's very own youth assembly has held its annual meeting in County Hall, Haverfordwest.

Known as Gennex - derived from the words 'generation' and 'next' - the assembly provides young people in the county with a voice and involves them in community decision-making.

It comprises young people aged between 11 and 25 from area forums across Pembrokeshire, as well as school councils and specialist forums.

They were welcomed to County Hall by the chairman of Pembrokeshire County Council, Clr. Robin Evans.

He told members: "I hope that everybody here this evening will be inspired to get their voices heard and influence the changes happening both in Pembrokeshire and in Wales for generations to come."

The assembly's chairperson, Amy Nicholls, said that Gennex had been running youth forums in Pembrokeshire for eight years.

"During this time, the importance of young people's participation throughout Wales has grown significantly," she explained.

"Pembrokeshire members have often taken the opportunity to represent young people's views both nationally and internationally.

"Young people from the youth assembly represent Pembrokeshire nationally, in the children's and young people's assembly for Wales, which is called Funky Dragon, and the Children's Commissioner for Wales."
