Tomorrow (Saturday) to June 14 marks Wales Biodiversity Week and Pembrokeshire people are invited to get out and enjoy the variety of life in their county.

A week of wildlife-themed events has been organised by Pembrokeshire Biodiversity Partnership, with support from partners including Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority and Pembrokeshire County Council.

The 15 events from June 6 to 14 include a porpoise watch at Strumble Head; a seashore exploration, including swimming and crabbing at Neyland, and a wildlife walk on Skomer Island in the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. Many of the events are free.

Bethan Cox, biodiversity implementation officer for Pembrokeshire Biodiversity Partnership, said: "As well as getting involved in the programme of events, we would also like people to 'Pledge 4 Nature'.

"You can add a pledge to Wales Biodiversity Partnership's online register at http://www.biodiversitywales.org.uk">www.biodiversitywales.org.uk. You could pledge to go peat free, build a compost heap or create a nesting site in your garden. It's simple stuff, but if we all do something small it can make a really big difference to wildlife - and you'll be entered into a free prize draw."
