A pilot scheme has been set up in Pembrokeshire for junior girl golfers to play with girls of a similar ability from local clubs in the area. It will also give them the opportunity to play different courses every month. The format will be changed each time, with the emphasis on fun and enjoyment. The first meeting took place at South Pembs, when 12 girls turned up and played a 54-shot Greensome foursome. The winners were Georgia Thomas and Naomi Hunt, who played down the 11th fairway. In second place were Emma Guerreiro and Kimberley Alman, finishing on the 10th hole, and third Carly Thomas and Megan Guerreiro, who completed their 54 shots on the 10th green. The next meeting will be held at Trefloyne Golf Club this Sunday, July 16, at 1 pm. The afternoon will take the form of a nine-hole par three competition. If you wish to take part, please ring 01646 661320. The following gigs will be held at South Pembs, August 27, Texas Scramble; Tenby, September 24, a 54-shot flag competition; October, Milford Haven Golf Club, date to be arranged.
