A hectic 12 months packed with indoor and outdoor activities, competitions, training, camping, pack holidays, international visits and lots of fun was enjoyed by members of Girlguiding Pembrokeshire. Girls and Guiders tackled mountain biking, skiing, skating, rafting, canoeing, hiking and sponsored challenges, to name but a few. A review of the year was presented by county commissioner Ruth Best at the recent annual meeting. The event was hosted by Pembroke Dock District. Mrs. Best congratulated everyone who gained badges, certificates and awards and made special mention of 1st Hakin Guides and their leader Wendy Barnett, who had been presented with the first ever Civic Youth award by Milford Haven Town Council in appreciation of all the work they do at Christmas helping the Salvation Army to wrap presents and prepare food parcels. She also thanked those who had come out of uniform in the last 12 months - Althea Shaw, Alice Morgan, Glenys Tithecott, Sylvia Dickin - for their devoted and long-term service.
