Dyfed Army Cadet Force is appealing to the public for various items and gifts that can be passed onto aid British troops posted abroad.

The items which will be collected and packed in shoeboxes will be sent out to the 1st Queens Dragoon Guards that has been posted to Afghanistan.

"It is hoped that these items will bring comfort and aid to our brave troops. Obviously life would be pretty boring without the odd random item, e.g. cuddly toy, mini hungry hippos game etc., so we are appealing for items that you would think will have absolutely no practical purpose whatsoever (even second hand) when in actual fact the lads are very resourceful and will love the challenge they present," explained Cleopatra Brown, under officer detachment commander, for Dyfed Army Cadet Force.

Examples of items that would prove useful include wet wipes, pot noodles, super noodles, instant mash potato, sweets, soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes, books, shaving sticks, shaving gel in a tube, shampoo, mouth wash, roll-on deodorant, chewing gum, biscuits, cereal bars, cotton buds, face flannels, shower gel, curry powder and spices, disposable razors, magazines, DVDs.

There is a request for no aerosols, alcohol or chocolate to be sent.

Anyone kind enough to donate is asked to please deposit their gifts at the off-licence in Tenby's Tudor Square.
