Christmas is fast approaching which means that it’s panto time in Saundersfoot. Following last year’s spectacular ‘Peter Pan’, Saundersfoot Footlights are aiming to emulate that success with their latest production - Aladdin! The society have been rehearsing tirelessly since September, and if rehearsals are anything to go by, it’s sure to be a massive hit.

The panto tells the story of Aladdin (Lana Lewis), a young peasant who lives with his over-bearing, matriarchal mother, Widow Twankey (Christopher Tilbury) and dim-witted brother, Wishee Washee (Tessa Rees). Along the way, Aladdin falls in love with the beautiful Princess Lotus Blossom (Tia Brace) and tries to disguise himself as a rich and powerful prince - leading to disastrous and hilarious consequences.

Meanwhile, evil sorcerer, Abanazer (Jordan Dickin) is attempting to get his hands on a powerful and mysterious lamp, which will make him the ‘master of the universe’. Trapped inside the lamp is the jovial Genie (Evie Maidment), whose ability to make her master’s wishes come true could prove dangerous.

Directed by Marc Styles, Aladdin is full of fun and frolics which all the family can enjoy and is perfectly performed by the entire ensemble.

As well as the fabulous acting, it wouldn’t be a Footlights’ panto without the fantastic soundtrack provided by musical director, Clive Raymond. Add the stunning vocals, energetic choreography, scintillating lighting and colourful costumes and scenery and you have yourself the perfect Christmas night out!
