Healthaspire from Milford Haven, set-up in 2014, are organising a walking event around Milford Marina to help raise money for the Paul Sartori Foundation, Pembrokeshire’s only Hospice at Home Service, with support from the Port of Milford Haven.
Healthaspire, a local nutritional centre is organising the event on behalf of the Paul Sartori Foundation who will receive net proceeds from the event.
Ellen Picton, proprietor and nutritionist from Healthaspire explained: “Nutrition plays a huge part to our health, but exercise is as equally important, walking has huge benefits for the body, including building bone strength, helping circulation, relieving stress and its a great way to top up on vitamin D,” adding: “It is great that we are able to raise money for such a worthwhile charity, such as the Paul Sartori Foundation.”
The event, Healthaspire Hike, starting outside Healthaspire Headquarters in Milford Marina starts at 10 am on Sunday, September 11. There are three distances to choose from 2k, 5k or 10k, following the marina and surrounding areas.
Brett Sheppard from B-Fit Health and Fitness Centre, also based in Milford Marina, will be warming up the walkers before the start.
Toni Dorkings, community fundraiser for the Paul Sartori Foundation, added: “We are thrilled to have been chosen as the charity for the Healthaspire Hike and we are extremely grateful to the Port of Milford Haven and Ellen for giving us the opportunity to raise funds for the Paul Sartori Foundation.”
On the day, there will be refreshments available and a craft corner for kids in the marquee. The registration fee is £10.50 and all net profits will be donated to the Paul Sartori Foundation. Registration prior to the event is advisable; you can do this by visiting the website www.healthaspire.co.uk/healthaspire-hike.
The services provided by the Paul Sartori Foundation are free of charge, available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and enable people who are living in the later stages of life to die at home if that is their wish. With dignity, independence, pain free and surrounded by those they hold most dear.
