Sir,

Once again we would like to express our gratitude to the people of Pembrokeshire for their generous support not only during the recent Cystic Fibrosis Week, but throughout the past year.

Committee members and friends collected at Tesco Stores in Haverfordwest, Milford Haven and Pembroke Dock, as well as carrying out street collections in Haverfordwest, Fishguard, Milford Haven and , bringing in a total of £1,831 - £31 more than last year!

Counting is still going on to produce a final total for the sponsored abseil at Twr y Felin, St. David's, and coffee mornings and a spring sale in Trefin plus the annual dinner at Wolfscastle Country Hotel have all helped to swell our much needed funds.

Next year the Cystic Fibrosis Trust marks the 40th anniversary of its formation. These are 40 years in which the research funded by the CF Trust has raised life expectancy from five years to 30 years - and here in Pembrokeshire two of our patients will celebrate their 40th birthdays in 2004.

It has been through the consistent help of Pembrokeshire supporters and people like them nationwide that this has been achieved. But we cannot rest on our laurels. Cystic Fibrosis claims three young lives a week and the CF Trust must raise £15m. to fund a unique consortium of scientists who are working on ground-breaking research that will see off cf. A cure is within our grasp.

Thank you for all you have done for us in the past. Please continue to give us your support.
