A LARGE collection of artefacts and research material of local interest has been donated to Tenby Museum and Art Gallery by Anna Davies and John Harrison, of Penally.
The material belonged to their father, Mr. Wilfred Harrison, who had a long connection with the museum - he joined the governing committee in 1941 and held the post of honorary curator between 1957 and 1984. He died in 1992, aged 87.
The donation included numerous paintings by artists such as John Uzzell Edwards, Herbert Allen and Ida Jones who, between 1901 and 1902, studied under E. J. Head, photographs by Nellie Powys Evans and Frank Gay, numerous books and journals and 44 files of research material.
Collections manager Mark Lewis said of the donation: "These items are very generous donations and will represent the mother lode for many future researchers. This material, meticulously compiled by Mr. Harrison, will prove invaluable. The pictures are an added bonus. And of course they all have an extra resonance due to Mr. Harrison's long involvement with the museum."
Pictured are honorary curator of the museum, Mike Brew, and Mrs. Anna Davies, with a picture by Herbert Allen, part of the donation to the museum.
