Tenby Museum and Art Gallery has been regularly collection artefacts, works of art, documents, maps and books for over 125 years.

From this month through to December, the museum will be exhibiting selections from its vast collection in two galleries.

On display will be examples of the work of both well-known local and visiting artists such as Augustus John, Gwen John, John Piper, David Jones, Nina Hamnett, Frank Salisbury, Frith, Philip Sutton, John Knapp-Fisher and a host of other artists from the 18th century to the present day.

In addition to paintings, drawings and prints, there will be a selection of some maps and books from the 16th to the 19th century, together with ancient documents relating to the history of Tenby.

The exhibition, entitled 'Gems from the Collections', will be officially opened by Clr. Michael Folland, chairman of Pembrokeshire County Council on tomorrow (Saturday). The exhibition will continue until December 17.

Other major exhibitions to be featured during the year will include 'Tenby in a New Light' - the recent work of local artist David J. P. Morgan (August 7 - September 12) and 'David Bellamy's Pembrokeshire', displaying new paintings by the renowned landscape artist.

The museum is open seven days a week from 10 am - 5 pm. The archive and library are available to researchers between Tuesday and Friday (10 am - 12 pm and 2 - 4 pm). Art exhibitions have a range of activities to attract your visitors.
