Last Sunday saw the annual Gazelle Charity Singles Knockout fund-raiser take place at Narberth RFC.
This year's recipient of the proceeds is Jacob Thomas, who suffers from Muscular Dystrophy, and Jacob and his parents made a welcome visit to the club to witness the proceedings.
Although only 48 players entered, there were a few supporters and most of the money raised was done through various raffles in the last few months, and, although an exact figure has not been finalised due to late donations, an amount around the £2,000 mark is expected. This will be confirmed next week, when a special presentation cheque will be made to Jacob and the family next Monday at the clubhouse.
In the knockout itself, losing semi-finalists were Richard Morris and Mark Journeaux, with the runner-up Gavin Smith and the eventual winner being Alan Welsh.
Furthest lady saw a play-off between Sarina Edwards and Nikki Rossiter, which was won by Sarina.
All winners returned their prize money.
Many thanks to the following who were all heavily involved: Eric Bates (Gazelle chairman), Richard Morris, Wyn Phillips and Colin Hallwood (Narberth Darts), Jeff Thomas, Gordon Hallwood and Susan Hallwood, Sarina Edwards and the Dingle (extra rafffle sellers).
