Next Tuesday, April 24, there will be a meeting of the Gardeners Club...for enthusiasts when the speaker will be Dr. Murray Mylechreest. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Horticulture; he is also a writer and lecturer on Botany and Horticultural History, including the Founding of the Royal Horticultural Society. The talk is entitled 'How, and why, do plants grow (or not, as the case may be)? This is your opportunity to learn from an eminent botanist who will give a science based explanation of the life of some plants and the interesting phenomena of the natural world. As usual, the venue is Rudbaxton Community Hall, Crundale, starting at 2 pm. There is a large car park, plus facilities for disabled people. Light refreshments will be served and, of course, guests will be very welcome. Plants are also on sale and the club's library can be used for reference. Last month, the speaker was Graham Rankin, director of operations at Aberglasney Gardens, who came back for a return visit. He delighted his audience with his talk and beautiful slides about 'Magnolias and how to use them'. During and after his talk he was more than willing to answer questions from the members and their friends. If anyone would like further information about the club and future events, please do not hesitate to contact either the chairman, Jill Foster, on 01437 751241, or the secretary, Sue Paterson- Jones, on 01646 682596.
