The Gardeners Club... for enthusiasts recently held their annual general meeting and following on from that are very pleased to say that an exceptional list of speakers will be visiting the club to talk to members and guests. As a feather in its cap, the club will be hosting an RHS Regional Lecture in July when the speaker will be Stephen Anderton, one of Britain's most distinguished gardening writers, best known for his weekly column in The Times - further details of this event will be announced shortly. To start the new season on a really high note, the speaker is Richard Cain, who has entitled his talk 'Shade Lovers'. This is a return visit by an experienced speaker and local nurseryman who will show how to realise the positive advantages of the darker areas of our gardens. Richard has recently become the gardening correspondent for Welsh Country magazine. The date of his talk is Tuesday, March 28. As usual, the venue is Rudbaxton Community Hall, Crundale, starting at 2 pm. There is a large car park plus facilities for disabled people. Light refreshments will be served and of course the club is always pleased to welcome guests. Richard will be bringing a selection of his own plants to sell. The club library will display magazines and books of interest; and there will also be a raffle.
