On Tuesday, October 25, there will be a meeting of the Gardeners Club... for enthusiasts when the speaker will be Keith Treadaway. It is especially interesting for the club to have Keith as speaker as he is one of their members who looks after the educational side of the club giving them all the latest information on horticulture.
He is a former schoolteacher and is giving a talk about 'Clematis', on which he is an expert. Keith is the grower of over 300 varieties. He is the owner of a National Collection locally, also a writer and a member of the International Clematis Society.
As usual, the venue is Rudbaxton Community Hall, Crundale, starting at 2 pm. There is a large car park plus facilities for disabled people. Light refreshments will be served and, of course, guests will be very welcome.
In September, the club were delighted to have a return visit from Sheena Crossley, whose talk was entitled 'the Potager' - what a range of interesting facts she gave, illustrated by a series of slides. She has been asked to pay a return visit in the future, as she is such a delight to listen to and gives guidance on many aspects of gardening.
If anyone would like further information about the club and future events, please do not hesitate to contact either the chairman, Jill Foster, on 01437 751241, or the secretary, Sue Paterson- Jones, on 01646 682596.
